Christmas Elmo Live

About Sesame Street

Elmo Live started life in the iconic children's series Sesame Street. Elmo was a relatively late addition to the characters, not appearing until season 33. Although Elmo was a late comer to Sesame Street he inspired his own mini-series - Elmo's World. The launch of Elmo's own seris was in response to the immensely popular segment that Elmo appeared in near the end of each episode, in which viewers explore topics in Elmo's World. The Elmo toy is a direct response to huge appeal of this muppet-like character. When you think about it, that's a pretty impressive cult following that has developed around Elmo considering his later arrival in Sesame Street

The Elmo Live animatronic toy looks set to bring a new generation of Elmo fans to Sesame Street, especially considering the high demand being seen by retailers.

At last count, Sesame Street ran for 4,186 episodes not including spin-offs such as Elmo's World, Monsterpiece Theatre and Sesame Street News Flash. Whilst all of these mini-series proved popular none had the appeal of Elmo's World and the star, as we know him, Elmo Live. Sesame Street has come to be one of the most highly regarded educational programmes for children; characters such as Elmo, Big Bird and The Count provided both laughter and varying degrees of educational titbits for a hungry, young audience.

The positive influence of Ernie, Bert, Elmo, Big Bird...(the list goes on) has spanned at least two generations and continues to provide children with a positive learning experience through a series of repeats shown on television. Characters such as Elmo were instrumental in helping Sesame Street win 109 Emmy awards during the life of the series. This awards were given for the recognition and success that Sesame Street attained through a combination of animation, puppets and live actors - much the same features that Elmo Live brings to your children. In addition the Emmies, Sesame Street has won 11 Grammy Awards, most recently for 2001 release Elmo and the Orchestra. Elmo has more talents than you could ever imagine!

The Elmo Live toy uses a subtle form of entertainment and humour that attracts the inquistive minds of young and old - Elmo works in the same way as Sesame Street. The interactive features of Elmo will make your children think that Elmo is there in the house with them!

Sesame Street was one of the first kids television series devoted to promoting the arts. Characters such as Big Bird conducting the Boston Pops, Monster playing a triangle and Elmo singing and dancing provided many children with an insight into the many wonders of the world around them.

In addition to promoting arts, characters Elmo and Rosita filmed public service announcements with various U.S. Governors in 2006 giving children their first tentative view into the world of politics - Elmo Live for President! The expansion of the Sesame brand through wonderfully interactive shows like Play With Me Sesame and Elmo's World give children around the globe new ways to experience fun and learning in the way Sesame does it best, it's really that simple.

Bert and Ernie are probably the most widely recognised characters from Sesame Street, even eclipsing the huge popularity of characters such as Elmo, Big Bird and Groover. These two inquistive characters gave children the chance to learn the virtues of patience and friendship through a series of sketches that invariably saw Bert having to bite his lip when confronted with Ernie's antics.

Before we wrap up we mustn't forget Kermit the Frog. Long before Elmo arrived on the scene Kermit was hosting the Sesame Street News Flash. The newsflashes were often takes on popular fairy tales, although there was also one about the first ever day at school, in which Kermit assists the inexperienced caveman teacher, Mr. James, during his lesson on the letter "N". At other times, Kermit would play straight man to the crazy antics of other Muppet chracters.

There are a huge range of other characters that go alongside Elmo, Kermit, Big Bird and Bert and Ernie who will continue to provide years of fun and pleasure for children and adults - never let it be said that Sesame Street is only for children - just like Elmo Live.
